What is the Targa Trophy Super Track Series?

---- After 5+ years of pioneering and producing the only national lifestyle road rally event series in North America, Targa Trophy is ready to give the race track a new twist. Welcome to the Targa Trophy Super Track Series - a street car only track day event series for high performance and custom built sports cars/exotics to test the limits beyond the street and see how well car and driver perform in a controlled environment.

Classes

--- The Targa Trophy Super Track series is open to all makes of exotic, modified/built and specialty sports cars including: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Spyker, Mercedes AMG, BMW M, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Audi, Lotus, Viper, Corvette, select European & Japanese imports, classic exotics, muscle cars and unique one-off sports cars.
  • Cars will be divided into the following classes:
  • Class TT1 - Tuner
  • Class TT2 - Street

The Format

--- All Targa Trophy Super Track Entries will receive transponders as part of their entry fee. This ensures all entries will be able to track lap times and data that will go toward the final trophy session of the day. All Targa Trophy Super Track series entires will be entered into the following performance metrics:
  • Fastest Lap Time TT1 & TT2
  • Hard Charger Award for Most Improved Lap Time
  • Street Crusher Award for Sickest Car on the Grid

On Track Rules

---- This is a point by passing run group limited to 25 cars. The final session of the day will be for Fastest Lap Time (cars will go out in groups of 3 to 5 to ensure clean final runs) to see who wins the Targa Trophy - FASTEST STREET CAR - Super Track award!
  1. Participants must complete a minimum of two (2) timed laps in final trophy session of day. The official time for each run will be as measured by the transponder attached to the vehicle. Failure to complete all laps (warm up - 2 hot laps - cool down) during the final trophy session of day will result in a DNF.
  2. Any vehicle that spins, loops or leaves the track surface (2 or 4 wheels off) for any reason, in any session, will be black flagged and required to report directly to the event steward as soon as safely possible. Multiple black flags issued to a participant will result in immediate dismissal from the event.
  3. A participant's official score for the event will be the lowest timed lap of the segment in final trophy session.
  4. The participant with the lowest timed lap in their respective class will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie within a class, considering the second fastest lap of each tied participant for each session, and so on until the tie is broken will break the tie.
  5. Lap times will be recorded from Session 2 on through the final session of the day. Most improved lap time will be measured between Session 2 and the final session of the day.
  6. Sickest Car on the Grid Award will be subjectively graded by Targa Trophy Super Track Staff. That means bring out your best stuff and show em' what you got!
  7. NO PROFESSIONAL RACING DRIVERS ALLOWED - AMATEUR OR GENTLEMAN DRIVERS ONLY

Tech Rules

---
  • All cars must be legally registered to drive on public roads. Drivers license, vehicle registration & insurance must be shown per entry.
  • All tires will be required to pass a tech inspection prior to car going on track for first session. Tires must have a minimum of 2/32” tread depth at the start of the event and must not show excessive wear or abuse.

Class TT1 - Tuner

---

Fuel-

100 octane maximum.  Ethanol fuel allowed.  NO leaded fuels.

 

Engine-

Internals must remain stock as delivered from factory

Turbo can be modified or replaced with larger unit

Exhaust manifold can be replaced with a tubular unit or aftermarket unit

ECU tune open bust must remain as delivered from the factory (NO Stand Alone ECU’s)

Exhaust Open - must exit from stock location

Air box Open

Aftermarket turbo and supercharger systems are allowed.

 

Suspension-

Shocks - single double triple and 4 way coil overs allowed- remote reservoirs ok

Rubber bushings can be replaced with urethane or spherical bearings

Sway bars open

Suspension pickup points must remain stock

 

Tires-

Any street tire that is readily available on the market

Any DOT R Compound tire that is readily available on the market.

No Hoosier A6/R6 or Semi Slicks

NO Slicks

 

Wheels- Open any size, style and brand.

Wheels cannot protrude past the fender

Fender rolling is allowed

Bolt on fender flares are allowed – wheels and tires cannot protrude past bolt on fender

 

Brakes- Open

 

Aero-

Cars can update to any OEM aero equipment

Wings and splitters are open – Rear wings cannot be higher than roof line  front splitters cannot go more than 3” past  the body line of the front bumper

Rear diffusers are allowed as long as they do not extend past the bumper.

Composite panels are allowed to replace OEM parts-  but must be properly attached.

Hood pins and deck lid pins are required for NON oem parts.

 

Interior-

Roll cages are allowed but the stock dash, functional door panels, windows and factory OEM carpet must be retained.

Roll bars are allowed and must have a minimum of 4 mounting points.

EXCEPTIONS - Headliner can be removed if the cage does not have provisions for it Door panel can be removed but must be replaced with a functional door panel of some sort.

Windows must be retained and be fully functional

Center console must be retained

Radios can be removed

AC can be removed.

OEM seats can be replaced with a fixed back competition seat which meets FIA requirements

5 or 6 point harnesses can be substituted for OEM seat belts – belts must be FIA approved and cannot be more than 3 years old.

All glass must be oem.

Fire extinguisher is recommended but not mandatory

 

Class TT2 - Street

Fuel-

100 octane maximum.  Ethanol fuel allowed.  NO leaded fuels.

 

Engine-

Stock internals

Stock exhaust manifolds for NA cars.

Stock turbo manifold for Turbo cars.

Turbo must remain stock.

Airbox open

Exhaust Open cat back

Catalyst must be functional but can be upgraded to a sport catalyst.

At least one fully functional catalyst must be retained per cylinder bank.

Downpipes for turbo cars are open.

ECU open- Ecu tuning and chips are allowed but must remain the OEM ECU

 

Brakes-

Open

 

Suspension-

OEM suspension

A maximum of 3 way adjustable coil overs (remote reservoirs are NOT ALLOWED) or 2 way adjustable (remote reservoirs ALLOWED)

Suspension pick up points must remain stock

Adjustable sway bars are ok - No bladed sway bars allowed.

 

Tires-

DOT street tires only that are readily available – NO DOT R Compounds

 

Wheels- Open any size, style and brand.

Wheels cannot protrude past the fender

Fender rolling is allowed

Bolt on fender flares are allowed – wheels and tires cannot protrude past bolt on fender

 

Aero-

Cars can update to OEM street car only aerodynamics - NO aftermarket wings or splitters.

Composite hoods and deck lids are Ok- but must use hood pins

 

Interior-

Must remain fully intact.

Seats and harnesses can be replaced for competition equipment but must be FIA certified – belts must be no older than 3 years.

Floor mats can be removed

Roll bars are recommended

Roll cages are allowed in the Street class

All glass must be oem.

Fire extinguisher recommended but not mandatory

 

Safety Equipment Rules

  • Helmet – SA2005 or better
  • Minimum - factory or better 3 point safety belts
  • Nomex fire retardant gloves
  • Cotton or fire retardant long sleeves
  • Cotton or fire retardant long pants
